Mariia Raskin is an impressionist painter, originally from Petropavlovsk, Kazakhstan (b. 1979), now based between Northern Cyprus and Turkey.
Her artistic path began in childhood at a local art school, where she studied drawing, painting, composition, ceramics, and art history from 1989 to 1994.

In 1996, she moved to Moscow and graduated with honors from the Faculty of Applied Arts at A.N. Kosygin Moscow State Textile University. Her degree focused on fashion and textile design, with a specialization in artistic costume design.

After university, she worked in the Russian fashion industry, developing visual merchandising, catalogs, and graphic design for a major retail chain. Later, she became a freelance illustrator, collaborating with publishers and co-authoring a children’s book with her husband. Her illustrations were exhibited at the Central House of Artists in Moscow.

In 2011, she turned toward sacred art, entering the Triphon Icon Painting School in Moscow, where she graduated with distinction in 2014. Several of her icons are now housed in a convent church near Moscow.

Since 2019, Mariia has been living in Northern Cyprus, fully dedicating herself to painting. She has held two solo exhibitions, including one opened by the Prime Minister, and her works are part of the permanent collection of the Cyprus Museum of Modern Art.

In 2022, she joined the International Association of Art as a member representing Turkey and became a juror for Apexart, a contemporary art organization based in New York.
In 2024, she contributed as an art critic and created an audio guide for The Art of Feeling exhibition in Copenhagen.
In 2025, she was accepted into the Eurasian Art Union.

Over the years, Mariia explored a variety of styles: from minimalism to abstraction, before finding her true voice in impressionism. She now focuses on textured seascapes and landscapes created with a palette knife, blending elements of expressionism and symbolism. Her work reflects a deep emotional connection between people and nature, offering moments of peace, joy, and quiet reflection.

Mariia is a two-time recipient of the Certificate of Artistic Achievement from the prestigious Luxembourg Art Prize, hosted by La Pinacothèque, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Luxembourg. In 2025, she received the Boynes Monthly Art Award in the Landscape category. Her paintings have won over 20 international art awards, have been featured on global platforms including Altiba9, Artsy Shark, and Spotlight Contemporary Art Magazine (France), and are held in private collections across the United States, Germany, Turkey, Russia, and Cyprus.

Bio
Renee Phillips on the Art of Mariia Raskin
Mariia Raskin is a quintessential artist/healer whose soul-stirring paintings of «Seascapes» comprise euphoric sacred realms. Her transcendent creations envelop us with their therapeutic powers of tranquility, restoration, and renewal.

Mariia’s paintings convey the highest human aspirations with an emotive blend of imagery and poetry. The natural elements of sky and water merge into healing metaphors and modalities. They lead us into a state of timeless, meditative revelation where we succumb to the present moment of blissful quietude.

As a proficient artist in Contemporary Impressionism and color theory Mariia orchestrates a symphony of vibrant hues in a luminous reverie of fluid, gentle rhythms. These qualities coalesce and harmonize with the exquisite tactile features she skillfully applies using a palette knife.

In some of Mariia’s paintings we discover small, silhouetted figures posed in the distance. These accents enhance visual spatial depth while they also evoke spiritual awareness about the universal language of human connection with each other and with nature.
